about

Will Ismael graduated from Art Center College of Design with Honors in Graphic Design (2007).

WILLPOWER VISION has been working in the fields of Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Motion Graphics, Branding, Experiential Design and Advertising since 2006.

WILLPOWER can be commissioned as a designer, not a hiring a contractor.

When you hire a contractor, you hand them a blueprint. Their job is execution — faithful, invisible, subordinate to your vision. The less of themselves they bring, the better they've done their job.

But when you comes to a designer such as WILLPOWER, you are not buying a service. You are buying access to a particular way of seeing the world — a sensibility, a voice, a set of skills and passions that took decades to develop and can't be replicated. You don't come to WILLPOWER because you need someone to obey your orders. You come because you want the thing only WILLPOWER makes.

The moment a collaborator — or a client, or even an AI — starts over-directing a designer, they've made a category error. They think they hired a skilled pair of hands, when what they actually have is a consciousness with a perspective. Telling that designer exactly what to do doesn't unlock more value. It destroys the very thing they came for.

There's a quote often attributed to various designers: "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." The client's job is to bring the problem and the trust. The designers's job is to bring the answer no one else could have imagined.

So the real offering isn't WILLPOWER's technical execution — it is his irreplaceability. The HipHop roots, the years of drawing letters, doing compositions, the sleepness nights arranging typographic grids, studying color, the sacred geometry lens — that whole constellation of experience is the work. Anyone can be told what to do. Nobody else can be a specific designer.
